A large-scale VR war between a corporation and the resistance
Forefront is a VR first-person shooter set in 2035, where the energy corporation O.R.E. has built a private military to protect its monopoly on Red Orpiment, a rare mineral meant to power the world. Local governments and resistance fighters are fighting to take control back. Battles run with up to 32 players across expansive maps, and matches play out over land, sea, and air. The gunplay is built to feel realistic, with tactical movement and semi-destructible environments, so the shape of a fight changes as walls get blasted through and buildings come down. Destruction works both ways: you can open new routes through a structure or strip away an enemy's cover.
Playing together as a squad
You pick a class before the fight — Assault, Engineer, Medic, or Sniper — and each one comes with its own specialized weapons, attachments, and gadgets. Since those unlock by raising your soldier and class levels, a group that plays together can spread across roles and cover each other's gaps rather than everyone running the same loadout. Teamwork and strategy decide outcomes more than raw aim, so splitting up tasks — someone on the objective, someone on overwatch, someone keeping the squad alive — pays off. Cross-play across platforms means friends on different headsets can join the same battle.
Vehicles and the battlefield
The war isn't fought on foot alone. You can pilot helicopters, drive tanks, and move objectives in humvees, quads, or boats, which opens up naval combat alongside the ground and air fights. Vehicles give your squad options for how to approach an objective and how to break a stalemate, and the destructible map means a position that was safe a minute ago may not be safe now.
Before you start
This is a VR game, so you need a headset that supports it. It's an online PvP experience built around large teams, so expect matches where you're one part of a 32-player battle rather than a small duel. Progression matters: weapons, attachments, and gadgets are tied to your soldier and class levels, so the first sessions are partly about unlocking the tools you'll lean on later.
