What FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR is
This is destructive arcade racing played from the driver's seat in VR. You trade paint through tight corners, get spun out, and try to recover before the pack runs you over. The crashes are the point: hit too hard or turn too late and you feel it from inside the car instead of watching it from a distance. The car snaps sideways, rivals close in, and wreckage piles up around you.
The cockpit is built to keep you planted there. Updated vehicle interiors, visible hands on the wheel, working mirrors, a live speedometer, and spatialized audio all work together. You lean forward to look through a turn, check your mirrors before a rival closes the gap, and glance down as the speed climbs. 6DOF support lets you move your head naturally inside the car.
Playing with your group
Online multiplayer runs with up to 8 players, so your group can race each other directly. Beyond plain racing, there is Assault, where weapons come out and combat racing gets brutal. Carnage rewards driving badly in the right ways: smash rivals, tear through trackside destruction, and chain the chaos together. Arena Mode gives you six demolition playgrounds across Death Match, Capture the Flag, and Survivor. Stunt Mode has 12 events where you launch the driver through the windshield and chase distance, targets, and timing. Time Trial strips out weapons and the pack so you can chase the clock alone.
Before you start
This is Early Access, so expect things to change as it gets updated. Hardware support is one area to watch: the game supports motion controller steering, plus steering wheel, pedal, and manual shifter setups. Wheel compatibility is still being tested and added over time, so check recent updates for the current list of supported wheels and hardware.
DLSS support and CAS sharpening are there to keep the action sharp and improve clarity inside the headset. The game is a first-person VR driving experience, so be ready for the physical side of it: the speed, the impacts, and the smoke folding in around you.
