A sloppy medieval brawl for the couch

Fall of the stick knights is a local multiplayer game built around physics-controlled characters. Your knight is clumsy by design, so swinging, jumping and landing never feels precise, and that awkwardness is where most of the laughs come from. The game is a first project from TerraDevlog, written partly as a way to learn programming, and the developer says it is heavily unfinished with a ton of bugs and imperfections. Going in expecting a rough, scrappy game is the right mindset.

Playing together

Supports 1 to 4 players on the same screen, with controller and keyboard support, plus Remote Play Together so friends can join over the internet as well. AI enemies are included, so a group can also fight the game instead of each other. On top of the brawling there is a deck-building system: cards you collect permanently alter your stats, which changes how a run plays out between rounds. There is also a score attack side to things, plus lots of destruction to cause along the way.

Customization, weapons and maps

A character editor lets you change how your knight looks, with skin customization on top of that. The arsenal holds over 40 different weapons, and there are over 90 unique maps to fight across, covering parkour, platforming and 2D fighting. A hook mechanic is called out as one of the better bits, useful for movement and for pulling trouble toward (or away from) yourself. The mix of tags covers medieval setting, pixel graphics, arcade action, and both PvP and cooperative play against AI.

Before you start

Expect a work in progress. The developer published it at 16 simply to get a game onto Steam, and the feature list openly includes bugs and imperfections, so odd behavior is part of the package. It works best when you treat it as a pick-up-and-play game for a small group: pick some weapons, mess with your stats through cards, and see who comes out on top. If your group enjoys clumsy physics fights more than tight competitive play, this fits that mood well.
