A rogue-lite dungeon crawl through four Prime Worlds

Ember Knights is a top-down action rogue-lite where you play as one of the legendary Ember Knights, the last spark of hope against the mad sorcerer Praxis. He has drained the life from the Ember Tree and fled through the four Prime Worlds, spreading corruption as he goes. Your job is to hack and slash through hordes of fiends, beat the bosses guarding each world, and restore energy to the Ember Tree. Runs are built from procedurally generated combat rooms, so the path and encounters change each time. Death is part of the loop: you upgrade the Ember Tree between attempts and go back in with a new plan.

Building your knight

Combat is fast and demands timing. You chain attacks, time your swings to unleash fiery strikes, and use your dodge to outsmart, counter, and stun enemies. Your build comes together from a deep pool of gear: 7 distinct weapons, each with 9 modifications, 20 skills, and well over 100 relics. You might turn into a scythe wielder spreading fire, a damage-resistant spellcaster, or a poison-spreading archer with summons. Relics create synergies that change how a run plays, so experimenting between attempts is the point. The enemies push back: over 60 unique monsters and variations each have their own attacks and behaviors, plus tougher Elites and Champions that demand you adapt on the spot.

Playing with friends

Ember Knights supports 1-4 players, both online co-op and local play through Remote Play Together. In co-op, the build pool becomes a team tool: coordinate with your friends to set up combos and synergies between your playstyles, so one knight's fire spread sets up another's follow-up. The same applies to room clear order and boss phases — talking through who focuses what makes the harder encounters manageable. Solo works the same way at your own pace, with the full weapon, skill, and relic pool available to you.

What to know before starting

Expect a challenge curve built on repetition. Epic bosses and their corrupted variations are the real hurdle, and Praxis throws everything at you — the Royal Phalanx, the Plague Bringer, and more. You will die, learn what went wrong, upgrade the Ember Tree, and try a different build. Persistence is the intended path to victory. Beyond the main run, the game includes a Daily Dungeon mode, a Boss Rush mode, and a Chaos Run mode, along with two pets: Ember Dog and Ember Cat.
