Fighting the Wraiths

Knights Within is a third-person hack-and-slash horde shooter with roguelite elements. You play as one of the knights protecting what is left of humanity against the wraiths that now rule the world. Missions are procedurally generated, so the maps and objectives change each time you run them. Combat is free-form: you keep full control of your movement and always have your sword and firearm ready, letting you switch between melee and shooting without breaking stride. As you push through a mission, you pick up randomized modifiers that affect both you and your enemies. Survive longer and the powers get wilder, which keeps runs from feeling the same twice.

Playing With Friends

You can run missions alone or bring up to 3 friends, for a group of 4. The game also supports up to 8 players unofficially. Everyone fights the never-ending hordes together while working through objectives. Between missions, you unlock and upgrade gear, so the group can build up shared gear options and come back stronger. Loadouts are built by equipping weapons, adding mods, and choosing paths, which lets each player shape a class that fits how they want to fight.

Modes and What to Expect

There are three game modes. The Multi-Act primary mode is the main mission-based experience. A smaller standard mission mode gives you a shorter run. The Gauntlet mode is an endless difficulty climber where your stage progress is saved and the difficulty keeps scaling up. The game is in Early Access and is tagged as difficult, so expect a real challenge from the enemy hordes. It was made by Indecision Labs, a solo developer working on their first public project.
