A silly jumping sandbox
Ecto is a goofy little game about bouncing around randomly generated nature worlds. Each level hands you a simple goal: collect the star fragments to finish it. Along the way you can poke at almost everything in the level, scoop up frogs, and gather coins to spend at Froggieman's shop on peculiar trinkets that exist mostly to mess around with. The worlds are colorful and stylized, and the whole thing leans into being relaxed and atmospheric rather than serious.
Playing together with friends
Ecto supports online co-op for up to 8 players, so a whole group can load into the same randomized world at once. Everyone can split up to hunt star fragments, trade findings, or just goof off with whatever trinkets they've bought. The movement challenges and time trials are where the group play gets competitive: you can race between the randomly placed islands and try to set the fastest speedrunning time, then hand the controller off and see if anyone can beat your record. Since the worlds are procedurally generated, no two sessions hand you the same layout to learn.
Before you jump in
The game is still working through its development roadmap, with pre-alpha, alpha, and open beta milestones listed before full release, so expect things to shift and content to land over time. It plays in 3D from a first-person perspective and leans heavily on parkour-style movement, so comfort with jumping and platforming helps. It's listed as free to play, and you can run it solo if the group isn't around.
