A fantasy realm full of modern junk

DYSPLACED is a top-down survival action-RPG where a medieval world is being torn open by cracks in reality. Through those cracks, modern objects leak in: firearms, mines, buses, traffic cones, things with no name in the local tongue. The locals call them magic. You play as the Guardian, summoned by an old order called the Watchers to hold back the corruption spreading across the land. The ancient force behind it, the Eternals, has been here before and seems to have been waiting for you.

Nearly everything in the world can be broken down for parts. Trees, wheelbarrows, plows, barrels, and even houses can be demolished with an axe, hammer, sword, or a modern tool. Those materials feed into crafting, where bronze ingots and hardwood planks sit next to paracord, carbon fiber, and salvaged electronics. You can forge local copies of the artifacts you scavenge, so a bronze-age blacksmith's take on a fragmentation grenade becomes a real option alongside the original.

Playing with your group

You can play solo or in co-op, online or local, and Remote Play Together is supported. In a group, you share the same dream-infused world and split the work that survival demands. One player can focus on demolition and resource gathering while another hunts wildlife, farms herbs, or fishes. Building duties can be shared too: campfires, workbenches, forges, teleporters, campsites, outposts, and full houses all take time and materials, so a group can establish a network of outposts across the map instead of one person grinding every structure.

Combat also splits naturally. Sword and shield, spear, and bow players can hold a line while someone else throws grenades, lays mines, or fires a shotgun. Perks are chosen one per level, so a group with different builds covers more ground than a solo player who has to pick one specialty. Quests, hidden treasures, and the fight against the Eternals are all things you can tackle together.

What to know before starting

This is an Early Access title. The developers state that most features and a large part of the final content are already in the game, with the remaining work focused on the last island plus features added based on feedback. Expect things to change as development continues.

The perk system forces real choices. You cannot be fastest, strongest, and most efficient at once, so decide early what your character is meant to do. The same applies to gear: you can block and parry with sword and shield, hurl spears, shoot a bow, or lean on scavenged modern artifacts, but mixing everything dilutes your strengths. Groups should talk this through before the run so the party does not end up with four identical builds and nobody carrying explosives.
