Four nerds, one planet, no memory

Doom & Destiny Worlds drops four friends on the shore of an unknown planet with amnesia and no clothes to speak of. From there you explore an open world in 2D top-down view, moving across more than 60 hand-made islands that make up three worlds. The tone is comedic: you fight cosplaying goblins, farting stone giants and cursed genies while trading bad jokes. Along the way you work out who summoned you, why you are there, and how to get home, all while three almighty tyrants stand in the way.

Playing together

The game supports 4 players local co-op, so you can share one screen and run the whole adventure as a party. Steam also lists Remote Play Together, which lets friends join over a connection. Combat is turn-based, and the party is built around your four characters, so each person can shape a different member. Battles run in real time in the sense that enemies can arrive mid-fight as reinforcements, keeping things busy while you take your turns.

Crafting, building and farming

The Dynamic Crafting System lets you combine blueprints with whatever materials you have on hand to make weapons, armor, drinks and explosives. Winning fights levels up the party, unlocks Feats and raises Abilities, which in turn lets you equip better gear and assemble custom Classes to match how you like to play.

Outside of combat the world is yours to mess with: mine tunnels, dig canals, raise mountains, set up a camp, and craft or steal furniture. You can also farm fruits, berries and vegetables instead of gathering or buying them, then turn the harvest into snacks and drinks. Inventory space is the main limit on what you haul around.

Before you start

Expect a long haul: three worlds, over 60 islands, and a party to keep geared and fed. Plan for downtime between fights, since gathering, building and farming take up real playtime. If you are playing as a group, decide early who handles what, because crafting materials, blueprints and inventory slots are shared concerns across the party.
