A party RPG set in Rivellon

Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition is a turn-based fantasy RPG from Larian Studios. You pick a race and origin — Human, Lizard, Elf, Dwarf or Undead, or one of 6 origin characters with their own backgrounds and quests — then travel through Rivellon making choices that change how the world reacts to you. The Divine is dead and the Void is closing in, and only one member of your party will get the chance to become a God. Your party develops relationships with companions along the way, and the store text notes that you should choose wisely and trust sparingly.

Playing together

You can explore Rivellon alone or with up to 4 players in drop-in/drop-out cooperative play, either online or in local split-screen with full controller support. Everyone controls their own character, so conversations, quests and fights all happen jointly. In combat, turns decide everything: use height for an advantage, combine elements to set up reactions, and draw on more than 200 skills across 12 skill schools. The environment itself can be turned into a weapon. Beyond the main adventure, PvP and Game Master Mode give the group separate ways to play — Game Master Mode lets you craft your own stories, and Steam Workshop holds fan-made campaigns and mods to download.

Before you start

Talk to anyone and interact with anything: you can kill NPCs without derailing your progress, speak to animals, and find secrets in ghosts, so poking at the world is a normal part of how it plays. Combat rewards planning over improvisation — think about surfaces, elements and positioning before the fight starts, since the AI is built to punish sloppy setups. Your choices have consequences, including which origin you pick, so a second run with a different race or character will read differently. Controller support is full, captions are available, and progress syncs through Steam Cloud, so the group can settle on a setup before diving in.
