A Tactical RPG With a Long Memory
Wildermyth is a party-based tactical RPG where your heroes age, change, and carry the marks of your decisions across a whole campaign. You start with a small band of ordinary people and guide them through turn-based battles and story events that rewrite both the world and the characters themselves. Combat leans on positioning, teamwork, and the environment: walling and flanking matter, and mystic interfusion lets you turn a lamp or a patch of terrain into a weapon. Between fights, choices have permanent effects. A hero might take on the wolf god and gain new powers at the cost of their appearance, or start a romance that gives both characters a shared buff and opens up more story beats.
Playing Together
Wildermyth supports online co-op and Steam Remote Play, so a group can move through a campaign together. Each player customizes and controls their own heroes as the story unfolds. A typical campaign begins with three heroes and picks up a fourth and fifth along the way, and the game is recommended for up to five players. Everyone shares the same world and story decisions, so the group's choices shape each character's path. Steam Remote Play is also supported for sessions where friends join through that feature.
Before You Start
Every playthrough generates new heroes, enemies, story events, and maps, so no two campaigns play out the same. Heroes age and may retire or die, and you can save favorites to a roster of legends to bring them back in later adventures. The setting is the Yondering Lands, built from hand-painted 2D characters and scenery, with its own bestiary rather than the usual fantasy lineup. Multiple difficulty levels let you set how demanding the tactics get, and the game is moddable if you want to change things up after your first run.
