What Dimhaven is

Dimhaven is a first-person mystery set on a remote island in the middle of nowhere, covered with mountains, mist and desolation. It used to be a lively tourist paradise, but mysterious events over the last few years left it almost completely abandoned and isolated. You play as Emily Ravenstone, who has come to the strange island to find her uncle. The game comes from the team behind Quern, and it leans on exploration, puzzle solving and a story that carries the whole experience. You pick up a camera along the way and use it to test your wits against what the island throws at you. Expect a slower, atmospheric pace with a dark, emotional tone and some dark humor mixed in, rather than action-heavy gameplay.

How a group plays it together

Dimhaven is built as a single narrative adventure, so one person drives the story while the rest of the group watches along. Steam's Remote Play Together lets friends join your session from their own machines, which means the group can follow Emily's investigation, spot things you miss and talk through the puzzles as they come up. It works well as a shared mystery: someone notices a detail in the environment, someone else remembers what was said earlier, and the room figures out the next step together. The point-and-click style interactions and the walking-simulator sections give everyone plenty to look at and comment on between puzzle moments.

Before you start

Go in expecting exploration and puzzle solving over combat or scoring. The island is meant to be wandered through, with the story unfolding as you move and investigate rather than through cutscenes alone. The atmosphere is deliberately desolate and surreal, with a retro, stylized look and a dark, emotional undercurrent, so it suits a quiet evening more than a loud session. Having one person on the controls and the rest of the group on voice chat keeps things moving, since the puzzles reward talking out what you have seen. The camera is a core tool, so pay attention to what you photograph and where.
