A two-player game of hide and seek
Dead Drop puts two players on opposite sides of an espionage match. One player is the Spy, who needs to complete objectives while blending into a crowd of NPCs. The other player is the Sniper, whose job is to find and kill the Spy. The Spy wins by moving through the map unnoticed and finishing the objectives; the Sniper wins by spotting the right person and taking the shot. The tension comes from the Spy having to mimic the movement of the AI-controlled crowd so the Sniper cannot tell who is the real target.
Gadgets and maps
The Spy has a set of gadgets to help stay hidden. Smokescreen creates a cloud that blocks the Sniper's view, Flashbang blinds the Sniper for a short time, and Rush Hour spawns a large crowd that is easy to disappear into. Decoy lets the Spy swap bodies with another NPC, while Costume Change shuffles the outfits of everyone in the crowd. The maps include City Square, Metro Station, Dance Club, Cocktail Party, Baggage Claim, and Pool Party, each with its own layout to learn.
Before you start
Dead Drop is a local multiplayer game for two players sharing one screen, and it also supports Remote Play Together for playing over a connection. It is a 2D pixel-art game with violent content, so keep that in mind before handing a controller to someone. The Spy and Sniper roles are asymmetric, so both players should agree on who takes which side before the first round.
