A murder mystery made of live-action video
Contradiction: Spot The Liar is an adventure and murder mystery where every part of the game is live-action video. You play a detective moving freely around the game environment, collecting evidence and watching events that keep changing as you go. The core loop is simple: talk to the characters you meet, ask them about what you have found and what you have seen, then listen for statements that cannot both be true. When you catch a contradiction, you pair two conflicting answers together and watch the character try to wriggle out of it. The game blends point-and-click exploration with the feel of an interactive movie that runs as smoothly as a 3D graphic game.
Playing the investigation with friends
The game is built to work well on a TV with a group of people around to help spot the lies, which makes it a natural fit for a shared session. Everyone can watch the interviews, call out suspicious answers, and argue over which pieces of evidence line up before you commit to a pairing. Remote Play Together is supported, so the group can follow along even if only one person has the game running. If your group prefers a quieter approach, the game also plays fine alone on a laptop or PC.
Before you start
Contradiction is tagged as singleplayer, so expect the detective work to rest on one person at the controls, with others offering eyes and opinions. The game covers mystery, conspiracy, crime, and investigation themes with a funny and atmospheric tone. The Mac version is 64-bit and works across Mac OS platforms, but it does not support Steam achievements or Steam cloud saving, and it cannot be updated further, so it may eventually be removed from the store. A legacy version with French subtitles by Pierre-Laurent Batut is available on a Beta branch, with instructions pinned to the top of the discussions forum.
