What Chariot is
Chariot is a side-scrolling platformer built around a coffin on wheels. You guide the King's remains through underground caves, and the chariot reacts to physics the whole time: you push it, pull it, ride it and swing from it. The levels are 25 in total, spread across 5 underground environments, and the King's ghost keeps talking at you as you go. Along the way there is plenty of loot to collect, plus fast ride sequences where the chariot picks up speed and you have to keep it under control. The game leans on physics puzzles rather than combat, so most of the challenge comes from reading the terrain and figuring out how to get a heavy rolling object through it.
Playing it together
Chariot is a couch co-op platformer. One player takes the Princess, the other takes her faithful Fiancé, and both work on moving the same chariot through each level. Since the chariot is shared, you are constantly coordinating: one of you may be pulling from the front while the other pushes from behind, or one rides while the other swings across a gap to set up a rope or anchor point. The physics means your timing has to match, and a chariot that gets stuck or rolls the wrong way affects both of you. The game can also be played alone, so you are not locked out if nobody is around. Remote Play Together is available, which lets a friend join in over the internet even though the game is built for playing on one screen.
Before you start
The store page recommends playing Chariot with a controller, so have one ready rather than relying on a keyboard. Expect a physics-heavy platformer: the chariot has real weight and momentum, so it will roll, tip and slide depending on what you do, and levels are designed around that rather than around precise jumps alone. It is tagged as a puzzle platformer with exploration and Metroidvania elements, so there is ground to cover beyond simply reaching the exit of each stage. The tone is lighthearted and funny, with the deceased King offering running commentary as you haul him along.
