What Bullet Sorrow VR is
Bullet Sorrow VR is a first-person shooter built for VR, available on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. You wake up in one of S Corp's air bases with no memory of how you got there, but with a powerful ability to influence time. An apparent ally named Nova guides you through waves of enemies while you work toward a clear goal: break into S Corp headquarters, find out who you really are, and expose the secret at the heart of the corporation. Alongside the story stages, there is an Infinite Arena mode with its own darker story about S Corp, set around a radical research lab that ran a secret clone project until the subjects went ballistic and the facility was abandoned and isolated.
Playing together
Online PvP is the multiplayer side of the game. Matches are set up through automatic server matching, and you can jump into a game at any time. Up to 10 players can be in one game, and competition is cross-platform, so Vive and Rift users can play against each other. Arena mode gives the group a shared battlefield with three different polished arenas to choose from, and the super gene buff system lets you enhance your weapon with secret gene power to deal with the infected enemies.
Combat and skills
The core of the fight is bullet time. Your time-manipulation ability develops progressively, giving you quiet, almost meditative moments mid-battle where you can keep fighting while the world slows around you. A later skill, the bullet-time force field, adds another tool to that kit. Cover matters too: the bunker-cover system lets you blink between bunkers to flank enemies or push into the heart of the action. Enemy AI is slick and competent, and the environments are complex enough that you need to move, dodge, and think on your feet rather than stand still. Shooting is precise, with physical collision effects and realistically calculated trajectories.
Before you start
You need a VR headset, either Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. Expect violent content, as the game is tagged Violent and features infected clone enemies. Save points are available on easy and middle difficulties, so those settings give you several chances to resume, while higher difficulties do not. Cross-platform play includes rotation for facing direction, which was added to make Vive and Rift competition fairer.
