What BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is
BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is a traditional 2D fighter from Arc System Works, the creators of the Guilty Gear series. Two characters face off in a duel, drawn as high-resolution hand-drawn sprites over 3D backgrounds. The story centers on dissent and destruction within a powerful council known as "the Library," which controls a great power that once saved humanity and now wields it in protective, some say repressive, ways. A round is called a "rebel," and one match can consist of one to five rebels. You win a round by reducing your opponent's health to zero or by having more health left when the clock runs out. Every character has weak, medium and strong attacks, plus a unique technique called a Drive attack that differs for each fighter. There are 12 characters to pick from, including the lightning-fast Taokaka and the wickedly powerful Tager.
Playing together
Local Co-Op and local multiplayer let you sit down with a friend and fight directly. The game also supports Remote Play Together, so you can share a session over the internet. Beyond head-to-head play, the game includes Arcade, Versus, Score Attack, Training, Gallery, and a fully fleshed-out Story Mode that tells the tales of each character.
Before you start
Pick a character whose Drive attack fits how you want to fight. Some Drive attacks let you control elements like wind and ice, while others absorb life force from your opponent. Learn the three basic attack strengths first, then layer in the Drive. The game ships with 2 CDs worth of original soundtrack, 42 tracks total, placed in your Steam folder under Digital Extras.
