A frog with a very deep moveset
Big Hops Together is a 3D platformer where you play as Hop, a young frog taken from home by a trickster spirit named Diss. Diss wants you to collect Dark Drips, while you just want your family back. A raccoon offers to build an airship to get you home if you bring back Airship Parts, which sends you through a Red Desert, an Open Ocean, and a Shattered Mountain, plus a Forest. Each world carries its own story and cast.
Movement is the main event. On top of rolling, diving, crouch jumping, wall running, free climbing, swimming, belly sliding, tightrope walking, pole swinging, rail grinding, and minecart rides, Hop has a frog tongue. The tongue pulls items into your hands, acts as a hookshot up walls, and lets you swing for speed. It also handles doors, switches, corks, plungers, flowers, flingers, and levers.
Building paths with vegetables
The other core idea is throwing Veggies into the world to make your own route. Mushrooms become bounce pads, acorns grow climbable vines, balloons make stackable platforms, oil balls give you hookshot points that keep your speed, apples place tongue-swing points, and cacti launch tightropes across gaps. You can only hold one item at a time, so the Backpack matters. Opening it slows time, which gives you a moment to plan under pressure. New Veggie types and extra Backpack slots show up as you explore.
Collectibles feed back into play rather than sitting there as a checklist. Dark Drips advance Diss' mission and unlock secrets, Dark Bits buy Trinkets that change gameplay, and Bugs fill Bugsy's Conservatory. Drilson's Depot sells Veggies and upgrades for the Backpack and wallet, Odette's Outfitters sells outfits, hats, and dyes, and Blueprints build Gadgets. Mixtapes play on the in-game Boombox or Hop-man.
Playing the whole adventure with a group
The Big Hops Together update adds online co-op for up to 8 players across the full adventure. You can pick up, carry, and throw friends, tongue swing from other players while they climb or swing, and steal items out of each other's hands and backpacks. Everyone can explore separately and warp to the others whenever they want. Story progression, Dark Drip collection, and Trinket unlocks are shared across the group, so nobody has to redo work.
Cappler's Conspiracy
Hidden inside the game is Cappler's Conspiracy, a photography game running 2 or more hours. You meet an owl named Cappler who sends you on jobs to prove or disprove Aliens, Ghosts, Mole People, and more. Finishing jobs earns camera filters, lenses, and a Sky Shifter gadget. Cappler's symbol is hidden through the worlds, so watch for it while you travel.
Before you start
The game runs deep on movement, so expect a learning curve on the tongue and the vegetable toolkit before the routes start feeling natural. The three questions the game sets up — why Diss kidnapped you, what the Dark Drips are for, and whether collecting them all gets you home — only resolve as you play.
