What Barro Racing is

Barro Racing is a racing game built around toy car and go-kart style driving. It keeps a retro, arcade feel with 3D tracks and a simple premise: pick a mode, drive, and try to get a better time. The short pitch for the game is a single word, "Jump!", which fits the light, bouncy tone of the whole package. It sits in the casual and indie space rather than trying to be a serious simulation, though driving and automobile sim tags are part of how it's described.

Game modes and content

The base game ships with BR - Bugs. After launch, DLCs were added as improvements to the game, and more content is planned over time. The additional modes are BR - Origins, BR - Formula, BR - GT, BR - Old Cars, and BR - Rally. Each one is its own BR variant, so the roster of cars and the flavor of driving change depending on what you have installed. Time Attack is one of the tags attached to the game, so chasing a clean lap is a core part of the loop.

Playing together

Barro Racing supports 4 Player Local, and split screen is listed among its tags, so a group can share one screen and race against each other in the same room. Remote Play Together is a Steam feature for this title, which lets friends join in over a connection when getting around the same couch isn't practical. Singleplayer is also supported, so you can run laps on your own when the group isn't around.

Before you start

The game is tagged as a sequel, so it sits in a line of earlier work from SC Jogos rather than starting fresh. Expect a retro, arcade-leaning take on driving with a toy car feel instead of realistic handling. Since DLCs arrived after launch and more is expected later, the amount of content you see depends on what's included in your version. Check which BR modes are present before you plan a session, so everyone knows what they'll be driving.
