A roguelite beat 'em up set in Talamh

Absolum is a side-scrolling beat 'em up with roguelite elements, set in the fantasy world of Talamh. A magical cataclysm shattered the land and left the common folk distrustful of magic. Sun King Azra used that panic to enslave wizards through his Crimson Order and install loyal princes over conquered realms. The high enchantress Uchawi and a small group of rebels rise from the shadows, wielding forbidden magic to challenge his regime. You play as the outcast heroes of Talamh, each with a unique fighting style: Galandra wields a colossal sword and destructive necromantic powers, Karl is the last free dwarf of Talamh who fights with an ancestral blunderbuss and his bare fists, Brome is a wizard prodigy, and Cider is a nimble skirmisher. Combat mixes rapid combo chains with spellcasting, magical counters, and rare items, demanding skill and timing as you build new strategies each run.

Playing together with your group

You can lead the uprising alone or team up with a friend on the couch or online. When you play together, you combine elemental powers and synchronize your attacks into chained combos. The run is built around taking down Azra's elite guard, so coordinating who counters and who follows up keeps the pressure on. Local multiplayer requires controllers.

What to know before starting

Each run offers multiple paths to explore and unpredictable encounters, so no two playthroughs play out the same way. The world of Talamh is dense with secrets, stories, and betrayals, from the mines of Grandery to the forests of Jaroba. The soundtrack is composed by Gareth Coker, with collaborations from Yuka Kitamura, Mick Gordon, and others.
