An escape built for two

A Way Out is a co-op adventure from Hazelight Studios where you play as one of two prisoners, Leo and Vincent, breaking out of prison. It is not a game you can play alone: the whole experience is built around two players, each controlling one of the main characters. The story begins as a prison breakout and keeps unfolding into an unpredictable, emotional journey. The tone is cinematic and atmospheric, with plenty of dialogue and crime-themed material, including violence, nudity and sexual content.

Choosing Leo or Vincent

One player takes Leo, a hardened inmate who does not make friends easily and is willing to get his hands dirty to get the job done. The other takes Vincent, who is fresh off the prison bus but determined to break out, relying on quick wit and having nothing left to lose. They form a reluctant alliance: escaping with a complete stranger is not ideal, but too much is riding on it to second-guess themselves. As freedom gets closer, they have to learn to trust each other to make it to the other side.

Playing together

The game supports Online Co-op and Remote Play Together on Steam, so two players can go through the entire experience together. Each player controls their own character in split screen, working as a team to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles. The gameplay shifts between sneaking, fighting, running, driving, and quieter moments like fishing, so the two of you are constantly adapting to what the situation calls for. Coordination matters: you need to combine your efforts to get past whatever stands between you and freedom.
