What X-Morph: Defense is
You play as the X-Morph, an alien species invading Earth to harvest its resources and terraform the surface. That flips the usual tower defense setup: instead of defending a base, you defend your harvesters from waves of human forces while tearing the city apart around them. The game mixes a top-down shooter with tower defense strategy, so you can fight directly with your own weapons or lean on a defensive layout you built beforehand.
The environments are almost completely destructible, from picket fences to skyscrapers. Buildings and bridges can be collapsed with realistic physics, and that matters beyond the spectacle: removing a building changes enemy paths and reshapes the battlefield. Enemy paths are calculated in real time, so the layout you create keeps reacting to what you destroy.
How a group plays it together
X-Morph: Defense includes a split screen co-op mode, and every mission has a gameplay scenario built specifically for co-op. Enemies attack in larger numbers and from new directions, so working together matters. The two roles split naturally: one player can focus on optimizing tower placement while the other shoots at enemies, or both can concentrate firepower on the strongest attackers. Remote Play Together is also listed as a Steam feature.
Planning and towers
Each wave is preceded by a setup phase where you can see which enemy types are coming and where they will move. There is no time limit in this phase, so you can plan carefully or skip ahead and start fighting, placing towers during the battle as needed.
Towers can be built almost anywhere on the map, and you connect them with laser fences to shape enemy paths. That lets you build long mazes from basic towers or place advanced towers that counter specific threats: flame towers handle fast ground units, artillery towers deal with large groups of slow enemies, and anti-air lasers take down heavy bombers.
Your fighter forms
As the X-Morph fighter you have a diverse arsenal and can morph into four forms, each with a basic attack and a charged special. The Plasma Fighter works against both air and ground. The Dark Matter Bomber clears ground groups, slows time, and releases a bomb that cuts down buildings. The Shredder clears the sky of air units. The Laser Destroyer melts large single targets and can charge a gravitational anomaly that pulls in smaller units.
