What Wendigo Blue is
Wendigo Blue is a 2D beat-em-up set in the world of Valdis Story. You play as members of the Vanguard, fighting to defend your home from invading gods. Combat is close-range and arcade style: you close the distance, land combos, and hold your ground against crowds. It's labeled as retro and old-school, with pixel graphics and a colorful look.
The story behind the fights
Reina, Goddess of Death, has held a barrier over Erebus for decades, but the invading gods have grown too numerous. Foreign gods are slipping through the barrier, helped by cultists who have turned traitor. You fight your way through them, and each god you kill pulls you closer to the dark truth behind the invasions. The enemy is gods and their followers, not other players — the game is PvE throughout.
Playing it with friends
Wendigo Blue supports up to 4 players in local co-op, so everyone plays from the same screen. You can also go it alone, or bring a CPU partner along when you want company without another person on the couch. Boss battles are the centerpiece: the big fights against invading gods scale to the group and get hectic with multiple players swinging at once. Remote Play Together is available, which lets friends join over a connection as if they were local.
Building your character
Every playthrough lets you customize your character with over 80 unique items and skills. Equipment and skill choices change how you fight, so two runs can feel quite different. Expect to experiment with builds across playthroughs rather than settling on one loadout early.
Before you start
This is Early Access, so the game is still in development and things may change as it progresses. It's a single game tagged Singleplayer and Local Multiplayer — there's no online matchmaking listed, so group play is local or through Remote Play Together. Controller support is noted among the tags, and the genre mix leans on beat-em-up combat with action RPG character building.
