What Way of the Hunter is

Way of the Hunter puts you behind the wheel of a hunting lodge and sends you out into large open-world environments in the USA and Europe. Two locations are included: the Pacific Northwest and Transylvania, each covering 144 square km / 55 square miles of terrain you can cross by car or on foot. The world runs on a 24-hour day and night cycle with changing wind and weather, and the ecosystems react and adapt to what you do in them. Dozens of animal species come with realistic behavior models, natural animations, and group behavior that changes when they sense you. You get a broad selection of firearms and equipment, including licensed gear from Bushnell, Federal, Leupold, Primos, Remington and Steyr Arms, plus realistic ballistics and bullet physics simulation.

Hunting with friends

The whole experience works in co-op, so you can run the perfect hunt with friends instead of alone. Group up, split up across the map by car or on foot, and work the same terrain together. Tools like animal sign highlights, blood splatter analysis, and the rewindable bullet camera give the group something to talk through after a shot, and the photo mode is there for capturing the moments worth sharing.

What to know before starting

Ethical hunting is a real part of the game, and there is a story about a family hunting business with its rivalries and friendships running alongside the free hunting. Hunter Sense highlights important details and information, and you can switch it off and customize the HUD for a harder, more bare-bones experience. An in-game economy ties everything together: hunt game, sell the meat, and spend the money on new gear, hunting passes, and taxidermy for your trophy stands. The trophy system generates unique antlers and horns based on factors like fitness and age, so no two trophies come out the same. Expect a slower, methodical pace built on reading the terrain and the wind rather than constant action.
