A bounty hunt in a cursed Western

Hunt: Showdown 1896 is an extraction shooter set in the forgotten corners of the American West, where the dead have risen and the Corruption has seeped into everything. You track twisted monsters, take the bounty, and then get out alive. Four massive maps, from Mammon's Gulch to Lawson Delta, hold ravaged landscapes, and weather conditions change the situation on the ground — you might outrun a wildfire or stalk under heavy rain. Rival Hunters are after the same prize, which turns every match into a contest over one objective.

Playing with your friends

Take a team of two or three and split the work: one watches the flank while the other handles the bounty. The store text puts it plainly — another pair of eyes can be the difference between life and death, so choose your team carefully. When you want the full weight of it, you can hunt solo. Either way, you share the result: a haul of loot or the cold embrace of death, and everyone on the team has walked that same line.

Loadouts and Hunter progression

You recruit from a roster that includes Wild West gunslingers, twisted fanatics, and legendary warriors from further afield, then arm them with distinctive weapons, from fine firearms to brutal improvised hammers. Tools run from Beetles to Tarot Cards, with hundreds of unlocks and customization options beyond the Hunter and gear. Combat is balanced so everyone has a fair chance, but the game is direct about it: even the best gear will not save you if you get complacent. Your Hunter levels up and you keep their gear, but a bad call still costs you.

Sound decides more than you expect

Listening matters as much as looking. Nearby monsters give warning cries, dogs bark in the distance when enemy Hunters are on your trail, and a reload in the next room tells you exactly where someone is. Creaking floorboards and snapping twigs can give you away, so watch where you step and hold your fire when you can. The tension is constant: gunshots close in from every direction, every bullet counts, and small decisions settle the outcome. The game also ships music from Port Sulphur Band.
