Hunting contracts across three islands

Prehistoric Hunt drops you into a primal environment where the job is simple to say and hard to do: track down rare dinosaurs, complete contracts for Preton Corporation, collect rewards, and spend them on better gear. The hunting grounds are three large islands with dense tropical jungles, open plains and high mountains. Weather changes on its own, a full day and night cycle runs in the background, and special locations sit waiting to be discovered. You move on foot, swim, or fast travel between points, and story notes scattered around explain the history of the islands. The target list runs to 27 dinosaur species, including Tyrannosaurus Rex, Spinosaurus, Stegosaurus, Quetzalcoatlus and Utahraptor. Each species has its own behavior and characteristics, and they live on land, in water and in the air. The dinosaurs hunt you and each other, so the food chain is never on your side for long.

Playing together with your group

You can hunt solo or join multiplayer sessions with up to 12 players, which gives a Discord group plenty of room to split up and cover ground. A shared hunt works well when one person watches the ridge with a range finder while another calls the herd in, then everyone converges when the target is located. The mix of stealth and first-person shooting means a group can plan an approach instead of rushing in, and the open world lets people spread across an island and regroup at a point of interest. Contracts are the shared objective: everyone contributes to getting the kill, then the rewards come back to fund the next trip. After the hunt, the trophy lodge is where the group's results become visible, with full-sized dinosaur trophies stored in rooms you build and customize.

What to know before you start

Bring the right tool for the job. There are 15 weapons to pick from, including a .700 double rifle, a revolver, a .50 cal heavy rifle and a hunting bow, plus hunting utilities such as callers and a range finder. You buy new equipment from the shop or find items in loot boxes, so early trips are as much about building a loadout as about the kill itself. The environment is a real factor: darkness, weather and terrain all affect how a hunt plays out, and a species that looks easy on open plains may be a different problem in dense jungle. The game is in Early Access, and the developer actively takes feedback and feature ideas from the community, so expect the experience to keep changing as it develops.
