Rebuilding after the nuclear strikes
Warzone 2100 is a real-time strategy game set in the late 21st century, after a series of nuclear strikes has wiped out the world's civilizations. The strikes seem to have been caused by a massive malfunction of the new NASDA (North American Strategic Defense Agency) strategic defense system. While most survivors form scavenger bands to get by, you belong to a more organised group called "The Project," which seeks to rebuild civilization using pre-war technology. The game puts a greater focus on artillery, radar, and counter-battery technologies than other real-time strategy games. It also features a massive research tree with over 400 different technologies, a vehicle design system, and more frequent in-game cinematic updates as gameplay progresses.
Playing with your group
Warzone 2100 includes online co-op and online PvP, so your group can play together. You can also play the single player campaign, which has full FMV support, or the single player skirmish modes. To play multiplayer online, port 2100 needs to be forwarded; check your local router settings for how to do that.
Before you start
The game is fully open source, and the source code is available from GitHub. It is a classic title from the 1990s with a futuristic, post-apocalyptic setting.
