What Speed Freeks is
Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is combat racing set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, where you drive buggies, tanks and helicopters armed with explosive weapons. Each vehicle class has distinct abilities that suit different playstyles, so a tank driver and a helicopter pilot are doing different jobs on the same track. Movement matters as much as speed: you are meant to master advanced movement techniques while shooting, not just hold a line through corners. You can play online or against bots, and the game supports cross-platform crossplay between PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
How a group plays it together
DEFF RALLY puts teams of 8 players racing and fighting through waypoints, battling for position before a final sprint to the finish. KILL KONVOY is a two-team mode where each side tries to slow down the opposing Stompa and speed up its own by destroying enemies, with the first Stompa to reach the end of the map taking the win. KUSTOM RALLY lets you play custom maps and racetracks made by the community, which is where the wacky stuff tends to show up. Beyond racing, you can build together: the MEK WORKSHOP lets you share creations in real-time, and you can rate and download other players' maps.
Customization and progression
Progressing your vehicles unlocks cosmetics and alternative weapons. The customization goes deep on the vehicle side: kits, rims, tires, accessories and paint jobs, with the Ork vehicles built to match their miniatures. You can also customize your Ork pit boss for taunting the players you krump.
Before you start
The Creation Mode LEVEL EDITOR gives you over 400 game assets to build custom races, challenges, stunt parks, tower climbs and whatever else you come up with, so expect a steady stream of community maps alongside the built-in modes. If your group wants to coordinate, note that DEFF RALLY and KILL KONVOY are team-based, so splitting across teams is where the interesting friction happens. Expect vehicular combat to be a constant part of every mode rather than something you can ignore while driving.
