What Battlesector is
Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector is a turn-based tactics game set in the 41st Millennium. You pick a force, build your army list, put heroes on the field and win by positioning, ability use and firepower rather than speed. Battles are played on isometric 3D maps where every unit's movement, line of sight and weapon range matter. The Blood Angels and the Tyranids are the two forces you field, with unit rosters covering infantry, monsters, dreadnoughts, tanks and flyers such as the Stormraven and the Harpy. Across the game you have more than 60 abilities and 50 weapons to work with, so the same unit can be used in very different ways depending on how you equip and support it.
Playing together
Battlesector supports live multiplayer, asynchronous multiplayer and hotseat, so a group can fight each other directly or take turns at the same screen. Skirmish mode is where you set up these fights: you choose the map, the faction you lead and the faction you face, then build your army list unit by unit, heroes and loadouts included. Three objective types shape the match — Exterminatus, Conqueror and Strategic Command — so you can agree on one before you start and know what the win condition actually is. Planetary Supremacy runs as a conquest-style campaign of procedurally generated skirmish battles, where capturing tiles, gathering strategic resources and growing your army carry over between fights; that works well as a longer shared campaign rather than a single match.
Momentum, air support and heroes
Each faction has its own Momentum system. Units that build enough Momentum can Surge, letting them chain together superhuman sequences of actions or push their abilities further — so holding a unit back for one turn to bank Momentum is often worth it. Command Points buy faction-specific air support: the Blood Angels can call a Stormraven missile barrage or deep strike Assault Marines behind enemy lines, while the Tyranids can drop a Harpy Sonic Screech or scatter Spore Mines across the field. Heroes like the Sanguinary Priest, Librarian Dreadnought and Hive Tyrant anchor a list, so it pays to plan how they'll be protected and what they'll be doing on the turns they're not attacking.
Before you start
The single-player side is substantial: the Age of Crimson Dawn campaign runs twenty missions following Sergeant Carleon and his allies clearing the Tyranid infestation on Baal Secundus after the Devastation of Baal. Daemonic Incursion is a last-stand mode where waves of Khornate daemons keep coming and the only goal is to survive. Some units, including the Invictor Tactical Warsuit, Pyrovore and Biovore, arrived through free updates, so check your roster before committing to a plan that depends on them. Expect violent content, and expect the campaign and skirmish modes to teach you the systems before you take an army list into multiplayer.
