The end of the Warhammer trilogy
Total War: WARHAMMER III closes out the trilogy with a campaign that takes you into the Realm of Chaos, a dimension of mind-bending horror where the fate of the world is settled. You rally your forces and push into that realm, with the choice of conquering your Daemons or commanding them. It blends large-scale strategy with real-time battles, and you can save anytime, adjust the difficulty, and play without timed input, so a long campaign fits around how your group actually plays.
The bigger sandbox is Immortal Empires, which combines the campaign maps, races, and factions from all three games in the series into one campaign. Every owner of Total War: WARHAMMER III can access it, and it works as the most complete Warhammer strategy experience across the whole trilogy.
Playing it together
The game supports multiplayer directly: PvP, online PvP, LAN PvP, co-op, online co-op and LAN co-op are all listed, so you can either share a campaign with someone or fight against each other. LAN options mean you can play on a local network without relying on the internet, and online play covers the cases where your group is spread across different places. Steam Achievements and Steam Trading Cards are included, and Steam Cloud keeps your progress synced, which matters when several people are juggling long campaigns at once.
Before you start
Immortal Empires is open to everyone who owns Total War: WARHAMMER III, but some races in it are only unlocked if you own Total War: WARHAMMER, Total War: WARHAMMER II, or DLC from across the trilogy. Worth sorting out which races your group can actually use before you all pick factions. The settings offer adjustable difficulty, custom volume controls, colour alternatives, camera comfort, stereo and surround sound, and Family Sharing, so you can tune the presentation and accessibility to suit whoever joins.
