Running a mercenary company in 3025

BATTLETECH puts you in charge of a mercenary outfit of BattleMechs and the MechWarriors who pilot them. The year is 3025 and the galaxy is locked in perpetual war between noble houses fighting with enormous mechanized combat vehicles. You travel a wide stretch of space taking contracts from feudal lords, managing your reputation with various noble houses and local factions, and trying to keep the company financially afloat. Between missions you work in the MechLab, repairing and upgrading your aging 'Mechs and replacing damaged weapon systems with salvage taken from fallen foes. Your dropship itself can be improved and customized as your mobile base of operations.

Turn-based 'Mech combat

Combat plays out in turns, with you deploying over 30 BattleMechs in a wide variety of combinations. Terrain, positioning, weapon selection and special abilities all matter, so each turn is a puzzle about where to move, what to shoot and how to survive the return fire. A squad of 'Mechs works together, and the outcome depends on how well you use cover, elevation and flanking rather than on raw firepower alone. Single-player skirmish mode lets you test your strategies against the AI when you want a fight without a contract attached.

Playing with friends

PVP multiplayer lets you customize a Lance of 'Mechs and MechWarriors and go head-to-head with your friends or compete against opponents online. Remote Play Together is also supported, so someone who owns the game can bring others along for the session. Skirmish mode works as a sandbox for trying out builds before committing them to a real fight.

The story and what to expect

The campaign follows a violently deposed ruler waging a brutal war to reclaim her throne, backed by your ragtag mercenary company. Expect a story-rich campaign where managing money, salvage and MechWarrior development matters as much as tactics on the battlefield. The 'Mechs you field are aging and wear down, so maintenance and careful contract choices are part of the loop. Combat is deliberate and demanding, with each decision carrying real consequences for your roster going forward.
