A block city you can build and wreck

Voxel Turf is a block based urban sandbox where the whole world is made of blocks, so everything in it can be built, modified or destroyed. You can put together sprawling cities from over 50 prebuilt buildings, design your own structures from over 15,000 types of blocks across more than 100 categories, or move into a procedurally generated city and reshape it as you go. Blocks can be painted and decorated with decals, and non-cube pieces like ramps, stairs and steps let you build pitched roofs and more realistic buildings. Switches, mechanisms and circuits let you build contraptions, and custom buildings can be saved as templates and placed like normal ones.

The game runs in several modes. Turf drops you into a procedurally generated city where you build, run missions, commit crime, or anything else. Build gives you a blank map with unlimited blocks. Turf Zero starts you on a blank map where you build a city from scratch and scavenge resources from bandit bases. Strategy starts you in a procedurally generated city with 16 warring factions, where you use diplomacy and warfare to take control of the whole city.

Playing with your group

Multiplayer works over LAN or the internet, and most missions can be done in co-op. You can cooperate with friends to build a city together, or compete and undercut each other. Territory is a big part of the multiplayer game: you explore and raid bandit bases for loot, fight Turf Wars against other factions and players to gain control over parts of the city, build bases and defend them from attack, and engage in diplomacy with other factions to gain power or undermine them.

Missions cover a lot of ground: fighting the local authorities for cash as a hired revolutionary, street races, stealing vehicles for profit, eliminating bandits and protecting civilians from bandit attacks, and earning an income as a specialist architect drawing up custom buildings. Cash also comes from crime and from managing a real estate empire, including protection rackets. When you want to stop planning, there are cars, a tank, helicopters and a rideable shopping trolley to drive around in, plus explosives, weapons and tanks for destroying and vandalising areas.

Before you start

Character customisation includes over 50 player skins, support for custom skins, 10 hats, wearable body armour, and weapon mods that change both appearance and behaviour — explosive shotguns, armour piercing pistols, scoped SMGs. Mods are supported through Steam Workshop integration and Lua scripting on a C++ base engine. Building templates can be synced across a network, so a group can share designs. Pick a mode that matches how your group wants to play: a shared blank map for pure building, a generated city for missions and crime, or the faction-heavy Strategy mode if you want diplomacy and war over the same streets.
