A retro arena shooter built for fast fights

Unchained drops you into a multiplayer first person shooter that runs on speed and aggression. The setting is the year 2282: you are one of many laboratory experiments designed to push a body to its limits — run faster, jump higher, take more damage. The people running the show have thrown their best subjects together across different environments and arenas to settle who is the ultimate supreme being. So every match is a straight fight with no plot to sit through, just the picking of a character, a weapon, and an opponent to chase down.

How a group plays together

Matches run online with up to 10 players, so a full group can fill out a lobby on their own. There are 6 game modes and 7 maps to rotate through, which gives a night of play plenty of variety without anyone having to learn a complicated ruleset — modes change the objective, the shooting stays the same. Eight characters are on the roster, so everyone in a Discord call can grab a distinct one before the round starts. Teams or free-for-all depends on the mode, and either way it is quick to get back into the action when a round ends.

Weapons, powerups and how fights play out

The arsenal holds 10 weapons, and several of them carry a secondary fire mode, so a single gun can answer different situations — close pressure one moment, a longer poke the next. Two powerups sit on the maps, and they matter: grabbing one at the right moment swings a fight your way, but wasting it wastes your advantage. Learn where they spawn on each map and your group can plan around controlling them.

What to know before you start

Expect retro-styled pixel graphics and an old school boomer shooter feel, which means movement and aim do most of the work rather than cover systems or long ability cooldowns. It is fast and it is bloody — the gore tag is accurate, so keep that in mind for anyone sensitive to it. It is free to play, so the whole group can install it and be shooting at each other within minutes.
