A cardboard box with a job to do
Unbox: Newbie's Adventure is a 90s style 3D platformer about the Global Postal Service, which is close to bankruptcy and has built living, self-delivering boxes to save itself. You play as Newbie, the latest creation, and set out to take on the Wild Cards, Boss Wild and his miniature minions. The worlds are big and varied, running from tropical islands to frozen peaks, and they are packed with challenges, collectibles and cardboard characters. Physics play a big part: buildings crumble and boxes tumble as you roll and bounce your way through. Along the way you collect stamps by completing challenges in each world, and once you have enough stamps you can take on Boss Wild.
Playing through the adventure
The main game is a single player adventure. You explore each world, hunt down hidden stamps, complete challenges and rescue innocent boxes from the Wild Cards. Everything you finish feeds back into your box: unlocking cuboid clothes and accessories from formal wear to fancy dress, with over 40,000 combinations of hats, clothes accessories and funny faces to build your own cube.
Bringing friends into the mix
Once you have saved the world, the game opens up to four-player local multiplayer across 11 maps with a fully customisable tournament. The modes are: Boxing, where you shoot fireworks and avoid water; Collect, where you grab the most tape as it appears in new spots; Thief, where you steal coins; Oddbox, where the most wanted player has to avoid the hunters; and Delivery, a race where boxes plummet down perilous routes to reach the finish box first. Remote Play Together is supported, so friends can join in over a connection as well.
