A tag-team fighter from Umineko
Umineko: Golden Fantasia is a 2D fighting game built around the cast of "Umineko When They Cry". You pick a pair of characters and fight another pair in matches where both members share HP and build SP for each other through a mechanic called the touch system. During combat you can spend your SP Gauge to start your Meta World, but it only goes through if your opponent does not argue your truth or cannot cancel it. The release includes the Cross Expansion from the original Japanese version, which adds George, Jessica, and Rosa from the Ushiromiya family to the roster. All combat lines, story mode lines, and match openings and closings are fully voiced in Japanese.
Playing together
Online PvP is the main way to play against others, and the game uses improved rollback netplay to keep matches responsive. Remote Play Together is also available, so a friend can join your session from their own setup. Matches are always two pairs against two pairs, so each side brings a full team and shares the HP pool through the touch system. The shared gauge means your partner's actions feed your resources, and coordinating when to spend SP on a Meta World decides whether your truth lands or gets argued down.
Before you start
The game is in English, while the voice acting is in Japanese, so you get English text with fully voiced lines in combat, story mode, and match bookends. The roster covers the Ushiromiya family members plus the added Cross Expansion characters, and every match opens and closes with voiced lines. The Meta World mechanic sits on top of standard tag-team fighting, so learning when to hold SP and when to force a Meta World is as important as the basics of the fight. The 1st Movement is beginning. Blitz!
