Building a base on Galatea 37
You play as captain Ashley S. Nowak, an elite scientist and commando inside a powerful Mecha-Suit she calls "Mr. Riggs". You enter a one-way portal to Galatea 37, an unknown planet in the Sycorax belt of the Milky Way, with the goal of building a two-way rift back to Earth. That rift needs enormous amounts of energy, so a few solar collectors and some steel will not cut it. You build a chain of mines, refineries, powerplants and research facilities to power the project. The Mecha-Suit handles base construction, resource extraction, gathering specimens and combat, and it can travel through rifts that connect space across vast distances.
Fighting off the planet
Your presence will not go unnoticed. As you disrupt the natural order, the world starts seeing you as a threat, and thousands of hostile creatures come for you. You build walls, barriers and defense towers, and the attacks get stronger every passing day. Between building phases you hack and slash through enemy hordes directly with the suit. The planet is full of rare minerals and substances spread across varied biomes with unknown fauna and flora and harsh weather. You set up local outposts in resource-rich spots and move the resources back using rift technology.
Playing with friends
The Riftbreaker works solo or in Online Co-op with up to 4 players. Every game mode and mission is balanced for both single and multiplayer play. The game includes a built-in server browser and a dedicated server mode, and it can run online or over a local LAN connection entirely offline.
Modes and customization
Campaign mode spans multiple hours across all the biomes of Galatea 37, with multiple persistent bases feeding your economy and a procedurally generated world. You choose the order of your priorities and which technologies to pursue. Survival mode drops you into a randomized mission where you hold out against increasingly difficult waves for a set amount of time. Sandbox mode hands you control over resources, enemy spawns and weather. You can also tune gameplay directly: enemy attack frequency, strength and numbers, resource abundance, weather events, enemy damage and more, plus difficulty presets ranging from hardcore strategy to laid-back base building. The game ships with modding tools, Steam Workshop integration and a Mod Manager.
