A 16-bit beat 'em up rebuilt

The Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors is a side-scrolling beat 'em up set in a dystopian future, where you play as one of five android ninjas fighting Banglar's army as part of Mulk's revolutionary force. It's a self-remaster of a 1994 spinoff of Taito's 1987 arcade classic The Ninja Warriors, reimagined by Tengo Project with extra moves and combos, two new characters, and fluid hand-animated pixel art. The playfield has been expanded from the original 4:3 to a wide 16:9, with heavily redrawn backgrounds and explosive pyrotechnics, while keeping the 16-bit style intact. Each of the five ninjas has their own unique ninjutsu techniques, giving you five separate play styles to work with. You punch, kick, slash, juggle, throw, crush, and combo your way through enemies.

Playing together

The game supports 2 player couch co-op, so you and a friend can take on Banglar's army together with a ninja partner. Remote Play Together is also available, letting someone join in over a connection rather than sitting at the same screen. Pick your android ninjas and move through the 8 stages side by side, trading blows with the enemy as a pair.

Before you start

There are 2 difficulties to choose from, so you can pick a challenge level that suits your group, and 2 play modes alongside multiple unlockables to work toward. Time Attack lets you compete on the leaderboards against the fastest players. For the audio, you can select from Arcade, Again, or a new arranged soundtrack, with unlockable soundtracks from the 16-bit console original and the arcade version by Zuntata. A controller is supported.
