A side-scrolling beat-em-up with ninjas and carrots
Ninjin: Clash of Carrots is an anime-inspired beat-em-up played across side-scrolling worlds made up of multiple stages. You take the role of either Ninjin, the charismatic rabbit, or Akai, the ninja fox, and fight through feudal Japan to take back the carrots stolen by Shogun Moe. Combat is fast and dense: you dodge rockets, cut through crowds of incoming enemies and take on bosses in frenzied encounters. The game also leans into bullet-hell style pressure, with enemies attacking from multiple angles, so keeping moving matters as much as swinging your weapon. The whole thing is drawn in anime-inspired HD pixel art, with distinct environments to move through as the story progresses.
Playing it with friends
The story mode supports 2-player local co-op and 2-player online co-op, so you can sit on the same couch or team up over the internet and push through the stages together. Both players pick their own character and gear, and you collect carrots as you go. There is also the Oni TV Show, a survival mode where you fight wave after wave of enemies and try to get as far as you can without dying. It works solo or with a friend, and finishing a stage earns special rewards. Remote Play Together is available if you want to share a session with someone who does not have the game.
Carrots, shops and your loadout
Carrots are the currency you pick up during play, and you spend them in two places: the Corgi Store for new equipment, and the Shady Shop for special weapons, masks and other customization items. The selection is large, with more than 150 weapons, projectiles, upgrades, masks, swords and other items, so each player can shape their character around how they like to fight. Expect a difficulty that pushes back — the enemy variety and projectile-heavy encounters reward learning patterns rather than mashing. Before you start, know that this is a story-driven game with a cast of characters to meet across its stages, and that your gear choices carry real weight in how each fight plays out.
