A side-scrolling brawl with the 1987 Turtles

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is a beat 'em up built around the classic arcade formula: walk right, clear the screen of enemies, keep going. Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael each come with their own skills and moves, so picking a different Turtle changes how a run plays out. The whole thing is drawn in full-color pixel art, with characters, vehicles, weapons, items and backgrounds taken from the 1987 TV show. Combat mixes old-school brawling with newer mechanics, and you build combos to take down Foot Soldiers, Triceraton Warriors and Rock Troops.

Playing it as a group

The campaign supports up to 6 players at once, so a full Discord crew can jump into the same run. Online Co-op lets you team up over the internet, and Remote Play Together lets someone who owns the game bring a friend along from their own machine. Everyone picks a fighter and fights through the same stages together, which suits the genre well: the screen fills up, crowd control matters, and the mix of Turtle movesets gives the group different tools to cover each other. You can also play solo if the group isn't around.

The story and the stages

Bebop and Rocksteady hit Channel 6 and steal devices to help Krang and Shredder's plan along, which sends the Turtles out to stop them. The route runs through Manhattan, Coney Island, city rooftops and sewers, and pushes all the way to Dimension X. The story mode is the main structure for a group playthrough, with a tone that leans on humor alongside the fighting.

Before you start

Expect a straightforward brawler rather than something with deep systems to learn: pick a Turtle, learn its combos, and hold the line against large enemy groups. The pixel art and 80s styling are central to the experience, so it plays like a loving callback to classic TMNT games such as Turtles In Time. It's tagged family friendly, which fits the cartoon presentation, and it works as a singleplayer game just as well as a couch or online session with friends.
