The Floor is Hot Lava
Hot Lava is a first-person precision platformer from Klei Entertainment. The premise is the childhood game where the floor is made of hot lava. Every level is a detailed environment packed with nostalgia, and the ground is flooded with molten lava. You run, jump, climb, swing, boost, and surf across desks, shelves, and other obstacles to reach the goal. The game is fast-paced and demands dexterity and ingenuity. Beyond the lava, you also have to watch out for toxic waste, bottomless pits, and crushers. Danger is around every corner, and touching the floor is not an option.
Playing Together
You can explore the worlds alone or join your friends. The game supports drop-in, drop-out multiplayer with up to eight friends, so your group can conquer the challenging worlds as a team. Because it features online PvP, the competitive side comes in when you race your friends to find the fastest route. The friends leaderboard tracks who has the best time, rewarding shortcuts and expert execution. Mastering the movement takes dedication and skill, so expect a lot of trial and error as your group learns the levels together.
Before You Start
Be ready for a difficult game. The platforming is precise, and the obstacles are treacherous, so failure is part of the learning process. The first-person camera adds to the challenge as you navigate the lava-filled worlds. If your group enjoys making content, Hot Lava includes a level construction kit for Unity. You can build your own creations and share them on the Steam Workshop, giving your group new levels to race through.
