What TETRUX: Online is

TETRUX: Online is a block-stacking arcade game from Visigames, built around grid-based movement and line clearing. You can play it solo or with friends, and it comes with a wide variety of gamemodes to pick from. The pieces you stack can be swapped out too: you start with the classic seven-piece set, and other piecesets range from familiar to pure madness. On top of that there are optional tweaks sorted into groups, so each session can feel quite different from the last.

Playing together

Local multiplayer supports up to 6 players on one setup, and online play supports up to 17. You can even combine the two, playing online with several local players at the same time. Split screen and Remote Play Together are available, so there are options whether your group is in the same room or spread out. In Battles mode, clearing lines directly makes another player's life more difficult, which is where the competitive side of the game comes in.

Tweaks that change a round

The Gamemode setting changes the objective itself. Starting Speed can be set anywhere from 1X to 100X, and also includes Infinite Speed and Constant 0X, so you can pick anything from a slow warm-up to something brutal. Power-Ups are special blocks that do something when eliminated. Moving Pieces means that when a piece locks, the whole grid shifts according to your settings. Garbage mode is the single-player counterpart to Battles: garbage lines pour from the sky periodically and the run gets steadily harder.

Before you start

There are more modifiers beyond those categories, including Hidden Pieces, rotation modifiers and Hold modifiers, so it is worth browsing the options before your group settles on a setup. Expect a lot of variation between rounds depending on which of these you switch on. The music in the game is made by Neocrey Studios.
