Two sides of the same city

Super Man Or Monster is a third person action game with an 8-bit look rebuilt in three dimensions. You pick a side before you start: MAN, where you build an army and hold the world together, or MONSTER, where you bash, stomp and wreck cities with brute force. The two sides play very differently. As MAN you fly around with a jetpack and blast monsters, and anything you deploy you can pilot yourself, from turrets and tanks to helicopters. As MONSTER you use special powers like fireballs and body slams to bring the chaos. The game also includes a jetpack and fart-attacks, plus retro chiptunes running underneath it all.

Playing together on one screen

The game has a splitscreen local multiplayer mode where Man fights against Monster, so two people on the same machine can take opposite sides directly. One of you protects the world while the other tears it down, which makes the match a straight contest rather than two separate runs. Remote Play Together is available as a Steam feature, so friends who are not in the same room can join in through that. Controller support is included, and the visuals run full screen in their retro style.

What to know before starting

You unlock units, monsters, special attacks and trophies as you go, so the first sessions will have less on the field than later ones. The world is made up of more than 30 of its biggest cities in cubestyle voxel form, and they are the places where the destruction and the defense actually happen. Expect a lot of buildings coming down when a monster gets loose, and expect to deploy and pilot your own hardware when you are holding the line as MAN. The game is a take on the classic Man Or Monster, a simple voxel browser game, expanded with the content and modes that did not fit back then.
