Build a holiday business on the island
Summer Islands is a real-time strategy business simulator where you turn an island into a working holiday resort. You place cabins, villas and hotels on the beach or up in the mountains, then add the things tourists actually want: bars, discos, golf courses, supermarkets, restaurants, stores, parks and attractions. Once a building is finished, tourists start arriving by boat or plane, and the money comes in from them. You buy buildings from a wide range of types and decide where each one goes.
Two tourist groups matter. Mass tourists fill buildings that hold a lot of people, while luxury tourists pay more but fill buildings with lower capacity. The two groups also have different preferences about which buildings should be nearby, so placement is part of the strategy, not just decoration. You can check how your buildings are doing and raise the rent when they are performing well.
Play with friends or against them
You can play alone, with friends, or against computer enemies. Online co-op and online PvP are supported, and local co-op is available too, so a group can sit together or split up across the map. In matches with enemies, the competition expands over your land, and sabotage is on the table: you can unlock more sabotage options, or hire consultants to protect yourself from it. Whichever side you pick, the goal stays the same — keep the resort earning and stay out of insolvency.
Money is a live system rather than a background number. You can borrow money or pay off your debts, spend on advertising to bring visitors in, and take out insurance to cover bad luck. Managing that balance while rivals push against you is what keeps a round tense.
Maps, disasters and the editor
Maps are generated from seeds, so you get a huge variety: one island, several islands, or the Summer Islands mode, from small 100x100 maps up to 1500x1500. Terrain ranges from high mountains to plain sand islands, and everything sits in the ocean or across big archipelagos.
Natural disasters can wipe out buildings — tornados, earthquakes and meteorites are all possible — so insurance and careful planning earn their keep. The Map Editor lets you build your own map and fill it with events: which buildings unlock under which conditions, matches with no roads or no minimap, and disasters triggered at a set place under set conditions. The game is presented in pixel graphics.
