What Strawberry Chocolate is

Strawberry Chocolate is a pixel-style RPG based on BanG Dream!, built as a doujin game by 河豚生态救助小组. You control Anon and Taki as they get pulled into a game console that arrived with no explanation, and the two of them end up stuck inside the game world with only the machine's instructions to follow. Getting back to reality is the goal that drives the trip through the many different game worlds.

The playtime runs about 2 to 3 hours, and the worlds keep changing style as you go. Racing stages, planting stages, music game stages and other small games sit inside the larger adventure, so the moment-to-moment play shifts rather than staying in one shape. The tone is comedic and cute, and the interaction between Anon and Taki is the center of the whole thing. The game also includes more than ten CG images drawn by 猫又猫老师 along with character art, plus original tracks written for the game.

Playing it together

The game supports both single-player and two-player play. In two-player mode one person takes Taki and the other takes Anon, in the style of Forest of Fire and Water, where each player is responsible for one character. That split makes it work as a party game when a group wants something short to run through together.

Because it is listed with Remote Play Together, a group can also hand a seat to a friend over a connection instead of sitting at the same machine. Between the two-player control scheme and the variety of small games, it is a reasonable pick for a group that wants a short shared run rather than a long campaign.

Before you start

The whole thing is a compact experience: roughly 2 to 3 hours, a single continuous adventure through shifting game worlds, and a story about two characters trying to find their way out of a game console's surprise. Expect platforming and puzzle-platformer sections mixed with the racing, planting and music stages, plus visual novel style dialogue between the leads.

It is tagged as singleplayer as well as local co-op, so going through it alone is a normal way to play, and the two-player mode is there when someone else wants to join. The content is comedic and cartoony with LGBTQ+ themes, and the difficulty is aimed at a casual audience rather than at a demanding challenge.
