A hard-core action RPG in the FINAL FANTASY line

STRANGER OF PARADISE FINAL FANTASY ORIGIN is an action RPG built by Square Enix together with Team NINJA (Koei Tecmo Games). It pushes the FINAL FANTASY series in a new direction, with battles described as the boldest and most merciless in the series' history. You fight through fierce encounters using a wide selection of jobs and weapons, and multiple difficulty options let you set the challenge to match your group. The story circles around restoring the crystals' light and whether that brings peace, a new darkness, or something else entirely. Along the way you visit locales that recall earlier entries in the series, such as Pravoka Seagrot echoing Sastasha of FINAL FANTASY XIV and Hallowed Massif recalling Mt. Gagazet of FINAL FANTASY X, with other areas and battle music drawing on the main titles as well.

Playing together with your group

The game supports Online Co-op, so friends can join up and take on the fights as a party. Because jobs, weapons and difficulty are all adjustable, each person can shape their character around how they like to play while the group covers the rest. Expect a third-person, story-driven run through dark fantasy settings with heavy, close-quarters combat rather than a casual session — pick a difficulty everyone is comfortable with before you start.

Before you start

The tone is dark and violent, tagged as Dark, Dark Fantasy, Violent and Souls-like, so it is not a light-hearted pick-up-and-play title. Some content requires an internet connection. The Season Pass adds the missions "Trials of the Dragon King," "Wanderer of the Rift" and "DIFFERENT FUTURE," bringing new equipment, abilities, enemies, missions and story content — but the main game must be cleared first before any of that can be played, and the same applies to the Warrior of Light equipment set that comes as a Season Pass bonus. The Deluxe Edition bundles the main game with that Season Pass plus a digital art book and digital mini soundtrack.
