What STAR WARS™ Battlefront is

STAR WARS™ Battlefront is a shooter set in the Star Wars universe, played from a third-person view with first-person also available. Battles take place on ground and in space, on classic planets from the original trilogy such as Hoth, Endor, and Tatooine, plus the previously unexplored planet Sullust. The environments are built from digital replicas of the original movie models, created using photogrammetry technology, so the ships, props, and locations aim for a lifelike look.

Ground combat covers large-scale fights where you command vehicles like speeder bikes and AT-ATs. Air combat puts you in cockpits of X-wings, TIE fighters, and the Millennium Falcon for dogfights. Iconic characters from the original trilogy appear as playable heroes and as encounters, including Darth Vader, Boba Fett, C-3PO, and R2-D2.

Playing with your group

The Steam features list Online PvP, and the tags include Multiplayer, Co-op, Online Co-op, and Split Screen, so there are ways to team up or face each other. Your group can join the same online matches and fight on the same side or against one another, and the co-op tags point to playing alongside friends against the AI. Split screen is listed as a tag, which covers playing together on one screen. The tags also list Singleplayer for when you want to play on your own.

What the Ultimate Edition adds

This edition bundles the Deluxe Edition together with the Season Pass. The Season Pass contains four expansion packs and an exclusive Shoot First emote. The Outer Rim pack adds new maps, new gear, and Greedo and Nien Nunb, with play centered on reaching an extraction point. The Bespin pack moves the fight to Cloud City and adds Lando Calrissian, Dengar, new weapons, and the Sabotage mode. The Death Star pack brings the space station itself as a location, new maps, new weapons, Chewbacca and Bossk as heroes, and a game mode set in and around the station. The Rogue One™: Scarif pack adds four maps, Jyn Erso and Orson Krennic, and a multi-stage game mode based on Rogue One™: A Star Wars Story.

Before starting, know that the maps, heroes, weapons, and modes from those packs only exist because of the Season Pass, so make sure everyone in your group has the same edition if you plan to play that content together.
