Real-time starfighter combat
STAR WARS™ X-Wing vs TIE Fighter - Balance of Power Campaigns™ is a space combat simulator built around real-time dogfights against other pilots. You climb into the cockpit of an Empire or Rebellion starfighter and fly alone or with others, cooperatively or competitively. The game includes over 50 combat missions and nine iconic spacecrafts to choose from, so there is plenty of material to work through whether you prefer structured missions or open melees.
Playing together
Multiplayer modes support up to 8 players over LAN. Your group can fly together as wingmates on the same side or split up and fight against each other in melees to settle who is the greatest starfighter pilot in the galaxy. Remote Play Together is available, which lets one player host and others join in. Pick your craft, pick your weapons, and pick your wingmates carefully, since your life may depend on it.
Before you start
This is a classic 1990's space sim, so expect the flight model and interface of that era rather than a modern arcade feel. The core loop is choosing a starfighter, taking on a mission or melee, and flying it out in real time against human opponents. Missions and spacecraft choices give your group room to specialize, so it helps to agree on sides and roles before launching.
