A co-op story about two writers

Split Fiction follows Mio and Zoe, two writers with very different styles: one writes science fiction, the other writes fantasy. A machine built to steal their creative ideas traps them inside their own stories, and they have to work together to get out with their memories intact. The campaign takes you through a wide mix of worlds, jumping between sci-fi and fantasy settings as the two characters learn new abilities and face whatever each story throws at them. The tone shifts constantly: one moment you are taming dragons, the next you are fighting as cyber ninjas, running from trolls, or dodging hover cars hurled by a robotic parking attendant.

Playing it with a friend

This is a two-player game built around cooperation. Both players are always in the action, each controlling one of the two protagonists, and progress depends on combining what each character can do. The game supports online co-op, local split screen, and Remote Play Together, so you can sit on the same couch or play from separate places. Either way, the campaign is designed to be shared: the challenges, set pieces, and sudden shifts in tone land harder when you are working through them with a partner.

Before you start

Expect a long ride through many different environments rather than a single setting or loop. The difficulty comes from coordinating with your partner and adapting to new abilities as they appear, so communication matters more than fast reflexes alone. The story is central to the experience, and the game leans into unexpected moments and tonal swings, from playful and funny stretches to darker, more tense sequences. Go in ready to react to whatever the next world brings.
