What Solace Inc. Is
Solace Inc. is a top-down survivors-like where you play as an employee of a time-travelling mercenary company. The core loop is simple: waves of enemies keep coming, and you clear them with a mix of hacking, slashing, shooting and blasting. Your recruits back you up, so your screen fills with your own firepower as much as the enemy's. It leans into bullet hell territory, with dense patterns to dodge and plenty of combos to build as you unlock more characters. The tone is comedic sci-fi, with a big cast of characters delivering dialogue as you go.
Playing Together
Local co-op is the way a group gets in on this. You and your friends sit around one screen and take on the endless hordes together, each bringing your own recruits into the mix. Steam's Remote Play Together feature lets people join over the internet as if they were on the same couch, so your Discord group can run a session without everyone owning a copy. Between the shared screen, the recruits you stack up, and the combos you build, a run works best when everyone is on the same page about who is covering what.
Before You Start
There is a lot to work through: 300+ characters to unlock and recruit, upgrades, alternate game modes, and unique missions that each bring their own challenge. The character creator lets you build your own employee before you throw them into the fight. Expect a run to be about surviving as long as you can while your roster grows, so early runs are as much about unlocking options as about clearing the screen. Cameos from other games and creators show up along the way, which is a nice surprise once you know the rhythm of the base loop.
