What Shredders is
Shredders is a snowboarding game built around a story mode where you and your pal Scotty start out making goofball snowboarding videos at the Frozen Wood resort. Brand ambassador Lisa notices you and offers a sponsorship deal for a couple of videos, which opens the door to professional riders, snowmobiles and much bigger features. An invitational has drawn a crowd of pros to the area, and with Lisa's help you get to meet some of them, pick up their moves, and work toward a wildcard spot in that invitational.
The riding itself leans on precise control: spins, buttering, rails, park lines, massive kickers, knuckle huck tricks and backcountry lines all feel distinct. Real pro riders appear with their own voices and stories, and you can learn moves from riders like Jamie Anderson, Sebbe De Buck and Marcus Kleveland. The world is a large unlockable open area full of lines, features and scenery, with locations that cover powder, parks, urban streets and backcountry.
Playing it together
Multiplayer is built into the core of the game, so you and your friends can ride online at the same time and chase the top spots together. Since the whole thing is a shared open world with fresh snow everywhere, you can pick a line, session a rail or kicker, and film each other's runs the same way you and Scotty start out making videos. The co-op is online, so you need to be connected to play with your group.
Before you start
Character customization and real-world snowboarding brands and equipment are in the game, so you can set up your rider's look and gear before heading out. The game is designed around a controller and plays in third person. Expect a mix of a guided story mode with pro riders and a wide open world to explore at your own pace, rather than a pure arcade trick attack.
