Fighting Mental's Hordes in VR

Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope puts you in the boots of Captain Sam Stone as he battles Mental's alien hordes. Based on Sam's own log files from his time aboard the Battlecruiser Saratoga, this VR simulation lets you experience the missions that turned Captain Stone into a legend. The game delivers the massive enemy crowds the series is known for, with countless terrors appearing in a single scene. You can dual-wield an arsenal of 16 different weapons, including miniguns, tommy guns, heavy lasers, shotguns, rocket launchers, and chainsaws. There is also a sword and shield for close encounters. The journey takes you across five unique planets, featuring locations like Egyptian sands, ancient ruins, and the surface of Pladeon. Along the way, you face five deadly bosses, starting with the Unholy Space Mummy of Gamma Pegasi. John. J. Dick returns to voice Serious Sam, dropping one-liners as fast as you drop enemies.

Playing Together Online

You can play through any level with a partner using the two-player online co-op mode. Before starting, you pick your character, choosing between Serious Sam or Serious Sammy. The co-op mode covers the campaign, and cooperative play was specifically added for the Shaanti planet. The game also supports online PvP. For those who prefer to play alone, there is a singleplayer mode. When playing with others, you can select from five difficulty settings, including the tourist and serious options added in an update.

Arena Modes and Daily Challenges

The full release added Arena gameplay to three new levels and five old ones. In these arenas, you fight randomly generated waves of enemies that increase in difficulty, offering endless variety. The Endless Wave mode lets you survive against endless hordes for as long as you can. There is also a Daily Challenge, which presents an endless wave on the map of the day; each day brings a new set of enemies so everyone playing faces the exact same challenge. Leaderboards are available for all three arena modes to track who can survive the longest.

Skills, Power-Ups, and Upgrades

Update 7 introduced a skills and power-ups system. You earn skill points by completing planets, with higher difficulties rewarding more points. Weapon unlocks come from completing perfect runs. The power-ups let you use tactical orbital lasers, plasma cannons, slow down time, overcharge weapons, create holographic decoys, release flying quadcopters, unleash armies of spiders, place minigun turret defenses, or create giant explosions. Across Sam's adventures, you can unlock 36 powerups and 190 weapon upgrades. Additional planets like Valtos and Arcadia bring new locations, enemies, bosses, and weapons such as a bow with piercing or explosive arrows and the Devastator.
